“Ricordando...”, Five Finalists for the Silverio Blasi Award
CIVITAVECCHIA – Five videos have been selected as part of the annual "Remembering..." award, promoted by the associations Spazioliberoblog, Blue in the Face, Book Faces, and the International Tour Film Festival, together with the Cassa di Risparmio di Civitavecchia Foundation. This "memory operation" aims to give due recognition to those who, over time, have brought prestige to Civitavecchia in various fields.
While Giovanni Insolera and Claudio Galiani carried out a meticulous and valuable task of creating a register of these prominent figures, the qualified jury, coordinated by Professor Ettore Falzetti, selected the five videos, each no longer than 12 minutes, that were submitted by the deadline. These videos include a monologue performed in tribute to the first chosen figure, Silverio Blasi, an actor, screenwriter, and one of the earliest directors in Italian television history. Over his thirty-year career, Blasi directed over 200 productions for RAI, collaborating with greats of his time like Giulietta Masina and Federico Fellini. The invitation was extended to municipalities in the region, but only Civitavecchia and Santa Marinella responded, as Fabrizio Barbaranelli of Spazioliberoblog pointed out. The hope is for the award to grow further, involving more of the local area in a shared goal of cultural development, as emphasized by Civitavecchia and Santa Marinella councilors Piero Alessi and Gino Vinaccia.
On September 27, the works will be awarded at the Gassman Theater, with free admission starting at 6 p.m., subject to availability. "We are not satisfied with just the videos," said Enrico Maria Falconi of Blue in the Face. "The artists will be asked to perform on stage, and the jury will give another vote after the performance." "We are excited to start with Blasi," added Piero Pacchiarotti of ITFF. "The associations organizing the award represent the various aspects of this figure—writing, theater, and cinema. Collaboration is essential to elevate cultural growth." "This is an award that will continue," concluded Marco Salomone of Book Faces, "to keep alive the names of those who have brought honor to the city; each of us will take satisfaction in discovering new figures and remembering them."
The event is set for Friday, September 27. "It will be a wonderful event," assured Gabriella Sarracco, president of the Cariciv Foundation. "I have always encouraged associations, especially those in the third sector, to come together to create stronger and more significant projects. It’s not easy, but this is the way to grow together."
